MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team swept its fourth conference tri-match of the season on Saturday with a pair of 3-0 wins against Covenant and Agnes Scott.
The Hawks opened the day with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-20 win over Covenant and ended the day with a 25-10, 25-15, 25-17 win over Agnes Scott.
With the two wins, Huntingdon sits at the top of the USA South Athletic Conference West Division standings with a 10-1 conference record. Covenant, the defending conference champion, is second with a 10-2 record. Both losses are to Huntingdon.
With Saturday's performance, the Hawks improved to 20-9. This is the first time the Huntingdon volleyball program has reached 20 wins since the 2005 season.
Five Hawks combined for 81 of Huntingdon's 86 kills in the two matches. Amy Tyma led Huntingdon with 26 kills. April Reese and Addison Genard each had 16 kills, Alexis Creasman added 12 kills and Shelby McAllister finished with 11 kills.
Kaitlyn Carter (42), Ashley Murphy (28) and Emma Moore (11) combined for 81 of the Hawks' 85 assists. Reese (30), Tyma (29) and Nichole LeFevre (24) combined for 83 digs and Genard finished with seven blocks.
