Hawks end season in USA South Tournament quarterfinals

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon volleyball team closed its season with a 3-0 loss to Maryville on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Hawks, the No. 2 seed in the West Division, fell 25-16, 25-21, 25-18. This was the third consecutive season Huntingdon has reached the conference tournament and Huntingdon's second straight appearance in the conference quarterfinals.

Despite Tuesday's loss, the 2018 season will go down as one of the Hawks' best during the NCAA era. With a 21-12 record, Huntingdon reached 20 wins for the first time since 2005 and posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since the 2008 and 2009 seasons. This season the Hawks also put together their longest winning streak since at least 2006, winning seven straight matches at one point.

Maryville, the No. 3 seed in the West Division, advanced to the quarterfinals with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-19 win over No. 6 seed Agnes Scott in the first round. Maryville will play Meredith in the semifinals on Friday. Meredith, the No. 1 seed in the East Division, will host the conference semifinals and finals.
