Huntingdon indoor and beach volleyball teams earn USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Huntingdon indoor and beach volleyball teams were recognized with the release of the United State Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Awards on Monday. The Hawks were among 1,313 teams recognized from the NCAA Division I level down to the high school level. The 1,313 teams are the most ever recognized with the Team Academic Award in a single season.

USA South releases Academic All-Conference selections

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A total of 184 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Wednesday. The student-athletes, representing each of Huntingdon's 18 athletic programs, were among the 1,702 USA South student-athletes named to the team.

Division III Week Student Spotlight – Addison Genard

This week is NCAA Division III Week and member institutions across the country are celebrating the ninth-year event. Division III Week is intended to recognize the academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the campus leadership and community service efforts of Division III student-athletes. As part of Huntingdon College's participation in Division III Week, student-athletes will be featured this week. Addison Genard and Drew Mathers are today's featured student-athletes.

Huntingdon SAAC heads athletic teams’ community service effort

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently helped raise a collection of more than 6,000 items for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. The effort was part of the USA South Athletic Conference’s Cans Across the Conference food drive. All 18 member institutions of the USA South collected non-perishable items to benefit local charities of their choosing.
Tyma recognized with release of AVCA All-Region teams

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon junior Amy Tyma received recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the release of the Division III All-Region teams. Tyma was an honorable mention selection on the South Region team. She is the first Huntingdon player to be recognized on an AVCA Region team since 1998 and the first Hawk to earn recognition during the NCAA era.
Hawks fall to Averett in USA South semifinals

DANVILLE, Va. – The Huntingdon volleyball team’s season ended with a 3-1 loss to Averett in the USA South Tournament semifinals on Friday. Making their first appearance in the USA South semifinals, the Hawks lost a 32-30 battle in the first game of the match before falling 25-17 in the second game. Huntingdon bounced back for a 25-23 win in the third game before Averett finished the match with a 25-19 win in Game 4.
Tyma named Player of the Year, four Hawks earn All-Conference awards

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Junior Amy Tyma was named Player of the Year and a total of four Huntingdon volleyball players earned All-Conference or All-Division recognition with the release of the USA South All-Conference awards on Thursday. Tyma is the first female Huntingdon student-athlete to be recognized as USA South Player of the Year in any sport since the Hawks joined the USA South in 2013.
Huntingdon advances to USA South semifinals for first time

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team downed Covenant College in three games on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. The Hawks beat the Scots 25-17, 25-16, 25-19 to advance to the USA South semifinals for the first time since joining the conference in 2013. This is the fourth straight season Huntingdon has reached the conference tournament. Tuesday marked the third consecutive appearance in the USA South quarterfinals.
Hawks split in final conference matches of the regular season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team closed out the regular season with a split against conference rivals Berea and Maryville on Saturday. Huntingdon beat Berea 25-21, 25-18, 25-15 before falling to Maryville 25-23, 25-22, 25-19.
Huntingdon comes up short in five-game battle with Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team took Faulkner University to five games but came up short on Thursday night. Huntingdon led 2-1 after three games before the NAIA Eagles rallied for a 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 15-13 win.
Huntingdon downs LaGrange for 10th conference win of the season

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team earned its 10th conference win of the season with a 25-20, 28-26, 19-25, 25-22 win at LaGrange College on Tuesday night.
DeFleron and Tyma earn USA South Athlete of the Week honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Two Huntingdon student-athletes were recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference as Athletes of the Week on Monday. Junior defensive back Peyton DeFleron was named Defensive Player of the Week for football and junior Amy Tyma was named Player of the Week for volleyball.
