MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team closed out the regular season with a split against conference rivals Berea and Maryville on Saturday.

Huntingdon beat Berea 25-21, 25-18, 25-15 before falling to Maryville 25-23, 25-22, 25-19.

Maryville (24-6, 14-0 USA South) will enter the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the West Division. Huntingdon (22-14, 11-3) will be the No. 2 seed.

As the No. 2 seed, Huntingdon will host a first-round and quarterfinal match on Tuesday at Roland Arena. Piedmont and Covenant will play in the first round at 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to play the Hawks in the quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. The quarterfinal winner will advance to the semifinals on November 8.

In Saturday's match, Amy Tyma (22), April Reese (14), Addison Genard (12) and Shelby McAllister (11) combined for 59 of Huntingdon's 68 kills in the two matches. Freshman Morgan Ilsley finished with 54 assists in the two matches and Lexie DeVuyst (26), Tyma (25), and Reese (21) combined for 72 digs.

With 10 kills against Berea in the first match of the day, Tyma recorded her 500th kill of the season. Tyma, who entered Saturday ranked third in Division III in kills this season, is the first Hawk to reach 500 kills in a season since the NCAA went to the current scoring format in 2008.
