139 Hawks earn USA South Academic All-Conference honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – More than 130 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Monday. A total of 139 Hawks, representing each of Huntingdon's 18 athletic programs, were among the 1,446 USA South student-athletes named to the team.

Women's basketball player Juliette Harp and men's lacrosse player Sam Hitt were honored as the Huntingdon Female Student-Athlete of the Year and Male Student-Athlete of the Year during Wednesday night's Awards Ceremony.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Huntingdon men’s cross country team and two women’s runners competed in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Meet on Saturday. The men finished 30th in the 32-team field with a score of 899 points.

TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. – The Huntingdon men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished in the top-10 at the USA South Conference Championships on Saturday. The Hawks finished sixth in the 11-team men’s championship with a score of 179 points. The Lady Hawks were 10th in the 15-team women’s championship with 316 points.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon College will induct five new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend. The ceremony will be held in the Leo J. Drum Theater at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The five inductees represent six sports and four different decades of Huntingdon athletics. This year’s inductees are David G. Myrick (basketball and tennis, Class of 1967), Bill Hamilton (baseball, Class of 1982), Kent Hagan (cross country and tennis, Class of 2011), Caitlin McMahon Hagan (cross country, Class of 2012) and John Sadie (golf coach in the 1990s).

OXFORD, Ala. – The Huntingdon men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the JSU Foothills Invite on Saturday. The Huntingdon men placed 15th in a 20-team division with a score of 408 points and the women were 18th in a 21-team division with a score of 539 points.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Huntingdon men’s and women’s cross country teams returned to action on Saturday in the Montevallo Falcon Classic. The Huntingdon men placed 13th in a 15-team division with a score of 407 and the women were 11th in a 12-team division with a score of 356.

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon volleyball team, men’s and women’s soccer teams and men’s and women’s cross country teams began preseason practice on Aug. 17. Updates for each team’s preseason are being featured this week. Volleyball began the week on Monday, followed by women’s soccer on Tuesday. Today’s featured teams are men’s and women’s cross country.
