Lambeth, Aulerich named USA South Golfers of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon golfers Addison Lambeth and Alex Aulerich were recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference on Wednesday.

Lambeth was named Golfer of the Week for the second time this season while Aulerich was named Golf Tri-Rookie of the Week for the first time this season.

Lambeth captured his first win of the spring on Tuesday after shooting a 10-under-par 134 in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery. The senior shot 5-under 67 in both rounds to lead the No. 1 Hawks to their first win in 2017.

His 134 is one stroke off the Hawks' two-round NCAA-era record of 133 set by Lambeth last spring. In 18 rounds since the start of last fall, the Greensboro, N.C. native has shot 11 rounds of par or better, including six rounds in the 60s.

With the win, Lambeth is back atop the NCAA Division III player rankings according to Golfstat. 

Aulerich's performance earlier in the week helped the Huntingdon B-Team to a third place finish in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate. The Hawks finished 4-over 580 and were two strokes off of No. 2 Texas-Tyler. The B-Team finished ahead of No. 5 Emory, No. 6 LaGrange and No. 7 Greensboro.

The freshman from Long Valley, N.J. tied for 16th with a 5-over 149. In Monday's opening round, he shot 1-over 73 before closing the tournament with a 4-over 76.

Aulerich shares his conference honors with Garrett Compliment of Maryville and Grant Powell of Greensboro who each shot 5-over 149.

Golfer of the Week
Addison Lambeth, Huntingdon - The senior from Greensboro, North Carolina finished first at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club last week by shooting a ten-under par 134. In the two-day event, Lambeth opened with a five-under par 67 and finished with a five-under par 67. His performance helped the Hawks to first place finish at the event. Also Nominated: Victor Hole, Averett; Brandon Bailey, Ferrum.

 

Golf Tri-Rookies of the Week
Alex Aulerich, Huntingdon - The freshman from Long Valley, New Jersey finished tied for 16th at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club last week by shooting a five-over par 149. In the two-day event, Aulerich opened with a one over-par 73 and finished with a four-over par 76. His performance helped the Hawks to a first place finish at the event.

 

Garrett Compliment, Maryville - The freshman from Danville, Indiana finished tied for 16th at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club last week by shooting a five-over par 149. In the two-day event, Compliment opened with a two-over par 74 and finished with a three-over par 75. His performance helped the Scots to a 12th place finish at the event.

 

Grant Powell, Greensboro - The freshman from Colfax, North Carolina finished tied for 16th at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club last week by shooting a five-over par 149. In the two-day event, Powell opened with a four-over par 76 and finished with a one-over par 73. His performance helped the Pride to an eighth place finish at the event.
