Huntingdon’s Tyma named USA South Athlete of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon freshman Amy Tyma was selected as one of the USA South Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Tyma was named Rookie of the Week for volleyball. This is the second straight week Tyma has earned the honor.

Tyma helped lead the Hawks to a 2-1 record last week and finished the three matches with 38 kills, 42 digs, five aces and four blocks. She opened the week with eight kills and 17 digs in a 3-0 win over Judson before totaling 17 kills, 12 digs, four aces and a block in a 3-2 win over Agnes Scott. Tyma closed the week with 13 kills, 13 digs, an ace and three blocks in a 3-0 loss to Covenant.

For the season, Tyma is tied for the Huntingdon team lead with 269 kills and 38 aces, is second with 281 digs and also has 36 blocks.
