Young earns USA South Athlete of the Week honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon senior kicker Chase Young was named one of the USA South Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Young was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in a 50-29 win over North Carolina Wesleyan.

Young set a conference record and a school record and tied a school record as he scored 14 points with three field goals and five extra points in the game.

Young's third field goal of the game was the 34th of his career, setting a new USA South Athletic Conference record for career field goals made. Young converted field goals of 40, 42 and 20 yards to tie the Hawks' record for made field goals in a game. His 42-yard kick matched his career-long.

The 14 points scored set Huntingdon's single-game record for points by a kicker and put Young at 304 points for his career. Young, who already owns the conference record for career extra points made (202), needs three more points to break the USA South career scoring record of 306 points.

For the season, Young is 8-for-10 on field goals and 35-for-37 on extra points. He leads the conference in field goals made, extra points made and points by a kicker (59) this season.
