Tyma earns USA South Athlete of the Week recognition

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon's Amy Tyma was recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference as one of the Athletes of the Week on Monday.

The junior was named Player of the Week for volleyball for her performance in five matches. Tyma totaled 77 kills and 71 digs to help Huntingdon post a 3-2 record during the week.

Tyma had 10 kills and seven digs in a four-game loss to Division II North Greenville and had 19 kills and 13 digs in a five-game loss to Division II Albany State.

Tyma helped lead the Hawks to a three-game win over Pensacola Christian with 12 kills and 16 digs and added 14 kills and 20 digs in a three-game win over Mississippi University for Women. With her 10th dig against MUW, Tyma recorded the 1,000th dig of her career.

Tyma closed the week with a season-high 22 kills to go with 15 digs in a four-game win over Oglethorpe.

For the season, Tyma leads Huntingdon with 258 kills and 250 digs and also has 28 blocks and 14 service aces. Through 19 matches this season, Tyma leads the USA South in kills and is second in digs.
