Peppers selected as USA South Defensive Rookie of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – One Huntingdon student-athlete was recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference as an Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Freshman linebacker Casey Peppers was named Defensive Rookie of the Week for football. This is the second straight week a Huntingdon defensive player has earned recognition and the first time this season the football team has produced a Defensive Rookie of the Week.

Peppers was recognized for his performance in a 57-0 win over Greensboro. Peppers led the Hawks with seven tackles and two forced fumbles and also had a tackle for loss in the shutout. The shutout was the eighth in Huntingdon history.                              

For the season, Peppers is the Hawks' seventh-leading tackler with 32 stops and leads the team with four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also has three tackles for loss and one pass break up in eight games.
