Lambert named USA South Offensive Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Senior Michael Lambert was named an Athlete of the Week by the USA South Athletic Conference on Monday.

The quarterback was named football's Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. This is the fourth straight week a Huntingdon football player has earned recognition from the conference and the seventh time this season.

Lambert was recognized for his performance in Huntingdon's 45-21 win over LaGrange. The victory clinched the USA South Athletic Conference championship for the Hawks. The conference title is Huntingdon's fourth in the past five seasons.

In the win, Lambert completed 19-of-24 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Lambert completed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Otis Porter on the Hawks' first possession of the game and closed Huntingdon's scoring with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Zack Self early in the fourth quarter.

Lambert's second touchdown pass was his 24th of the season. The 24 touchdown passes are the third most in a season by a Huntingdon quarterback in program history. This season, Lambert leads the USA South in touchdown passes and is second with 2,054 passing yards. He has completed 162-of-274 passes this season
