MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Greyson Collins, Greensboro - The junior guard from Greensboro, North Carolina averaged 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game as the Pride split two games from USA South rival Methodist last week. In an 82-65 home win, Collins posted 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. In a 70-65 road loss, Collins tallied his first-career double-double with 23 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to go along with five assists and two steals. Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Dorian Miles, Pfeiffer - The freshman forward from Greenville, South Carolina averaged 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game as the Falcons split two games against USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan last week. In a 94-71 home win, Miles posted a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds with one assist and one steal. In a 101-68 road loss, Miles totaled two points and five rebounds. Also Nominated: Jason Sellars II, Averett; James Little, Huntingdon.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Nakiyah Washington, Piedmont - The Adairsville, Georgia sophomore forward averaged in just 18.5 minutes per game, 21.0 points, 7.5 steals, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest as the Lions swept two games from USA South rival Wesleyan last week at home. In a 104-36 win, Washington notched career-highs of 29 points, 11 rebounds and nine steals to go along with four assists and one block. In a 78-33 victory, Washington totaled 13 points, six steals and three rebounds. Also Nominated: Shelby Hix, Maryville; Destiny Williams, Brevard; Karis McIntosh, Covenant; Camryn Lunsford, Averett; Brina Bentley, Pfeiffer; Jahpera McEachin, LaGrange; Myrayna Watkins, N.C. Wesleyan; Lauren Livingston, Greensboro; Sydney Austin, William Peace; Jalen Gathers, Mary Baldwin.

Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Karis McIntosh, Covenant - The Bernice, Louisiana freshman guard averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game as the Scots swept two games from USA South foe Agnes Scott last week. In an 117-29 home win, McIntosh totaled 16 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and one steal. In a 98-36 road victory, McIntosh scored a career-high 24 points with seven assists, three rebounds and three steals. Also Nominated: Jordan Heifner, Maryville; Anniston Krapf, Piedmont; Natija Pate, Averett; Jahlea Peters, Pfeiffer; Lauren Livingston, Greensboro; Ahnila Owens, Wesleyan.

 

MEN'S SOCCER

Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Hunter Hall, Huntingdon - The Panama City, Florida senior forward totaled ten points on five goals, two of which were game-winners, as the Hawks posted a 2-0 record last week. In a 5-1 win over Birmingham Southern, Hall notched the team's first two goals of the match. In a 4-1 victory over USA South foe LaGrange, Hall notched a hat-trick with three goals, including the eventual game-winner in the 24th minute. Also Nominated: Mercer Stout, Covenant; Francesco Bonometti, Brevard; Ezequiel Marquez, Averett; Jordy Briceno, Greensboro; Jorge Aguilar, William Peace.

Men's Soccer Defender of the Week
Jacob Smith, William Peace - The Mooresville, North Carolina junior goalkeeper did not allow a goal in 115 minutes played while making six saves as the Pacers have posted a 1-0-1 record to open the season. In a 2-2 tie with Division II Shaw, Smith came in for the last 25 minutes, stopped a penalty kick and made four total saves to preserve the draw. In a 1-0 win over USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan, Smith stopped two shots for the shutout. Also Nominated: Griffin Felton, Covenant; Pedro Campos, Brevard; Ezequiel Marquez, Averett; Joshua Burton, Huntingdon.

Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Donnie Leahy, William Peace - The Kernersville, North Carolina freshman forward totaled four points on two goals as the Pacers have posted a 1-0-1 record to open the season. In a 2-2 tie with Division II Shaw, Leahy scored the match's first goal in the fifth minute before tying the game in the 58th minute. In a 1-0 win over USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan, Leahy was held without a shot. Also Nominated: Noah Putman, Maryville; Estevan Berto, Brevard; Caleb Allen, Methodist; Rion Klaas, Averett; Sammy Sanchez, Huntingdon.

 

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Alexis Chase, Greensboro - The Wendell, North Carolina senior forward tallied a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory over USA South foe William Peace in the only contest of the week for the Pride. Chase assisted on the first, and eventual game-winning goal, in the 73rd minute before scoring an insurance goal seven minutes later. Also Nominated: Taylor Richardson, Brevard; Kailey Burrell, Covenant; Cassie Kirk, Piedmont; Sydney Dailey, LaGrange; Raine Greene, William Peace.

Women's Soccer Defender of the Week
Rebeccah Rojas, Brevard - The Murrieta, California sophomore goalkeeper posted a shutout against USA South foe Covenant in the only contest last week for the Tornados. In a 1-0 victory, Rojas stopped all three shots faced en route to the clean sheet. Also Nominated: Lucy Sandhoff, Covenant; Maurie White, LaGrange; Brittany Daley, Greensboro.

Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Taylor Richardson, Brevard - The Seminole, Florida freshman forward scored her first collegiate goal, which just so happened to be the game-winner, in a 1-0 victory over USA South foe Covenant in the only contest last week for the Tornados. In the 53rd minute, Richardson headed-in, what turned out to be, the match's only score. Also Nominated: Anna Brown, LaGrange.

 

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Drew Topoly, Methodist - The Smithfield, North Carolina sophomore placed fourth out of 50 runners at the N.C. Wesleyan Classic last week. Topoly completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 16:38 helping the Monarchs third place team finish. Also Nominated: Connor Moranos, Piedmont; Ben Mellott, Covenant; Anthony Ponce-Mexicano, Averett; Chris Sielkowski, N.C. Wesleyan; Tucker Solttesz, William Peace.

Men's Cross Country Rookie Runner of the Week
Mac Brooks, Huntingdon - The Trussville, Alabama freshman has competed in two events this spring. First, he placed second out of 21 runners at the Martin Methodist Season Opener, completing the 5,000-meter course in a time of 16:43. Last week, Brooks placed ninth out of 46 runners at the Berry Invitational, completing the 8,000-meter course in a time of 28:50. Also Nominated: Walker Capelle, Piedmont; Will Gray, Methodist; Anthony Ponce-Mexicano, Averett; Chris Sielkowski, N.C. Wesleyan; Caleb Clendenning, William Peace.

 

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Makayla Lawler, Methodist - The Cameron, North Carolina senior placed second out of 26 runners at the N.C. Wesleyan Classic last week. Lawler completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 20:00. Also Nominated: S.K. Lipperd, Covenant; Lilly Simms, Maryville; Kayla Sisco, Averett; Kelsey Hutchison, N.C. Wesleyan.

Women's Cross Country Rookie Runner of the Week
Caroline Stubblefield, Methodist - The Cameron, North Carolina senior placed seventh out of 26 runners at the N.C. Wesleyan Classic last week. Stubblefield completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 21:17. Also Nominated: S.K. Lipperd, Covenant; Lilly Simms, Maryville; Kayla Sisco, Averett; Kelsey Hutchison, N.C. Wesleyan.
