Bio

Nick Fletcher joined the Huntingdon baseball program in the summer of 2013 and serves as the Hawks' assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator. He also oversees hitting and offensive development and coaches outfielders.

In seven seasons with the Hawks, Fletcher has been a part of 140 wins, one conference championship and one appearance in the NCAA Division III South Regional.        

During the shortened 2020 season, Huntingdon put together a 9-6 record that included a win over third-ranked Birmingham-Southern and a three-game conference sweep of Averett.

In 2019, Huntingdon won 24 games and was ranked as high as 10^th in Division III. The Hawks returned to the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament and reached the third day, eliminating the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the process.

In 2018, Huntingdon tied for third in the regular-season conference standings and reached the USA South Tournament for a third straight season. The 2016 team won 27 games, captured the Hawks’ first USA South title and earned a berth in the South Regional.

Fletcher has helped develop two All-Region outfielders as Anthony Spivey earned second-team All-South honors in 2015 and Patrick Kucera earned third-team All-South recognition in 2016. He also coached second-team All-South shortstop Wes Powell in 2019, third-team All-South third baseman Jordan Freeman in 2015 and third-team All-South utility player Taylor Fought in 2018.

Before joining the Huntingdon staff, Fletcher was assistant head coach at Northwest Florida State College. In addition to coordinating recruiting for the program, Fletcher served as hitting coach and outfield coach for five years.

At  Northwest Florida, Fletcher helped the Raiders climb from the bottom of the Panhandle Conference to a conference contender. Northwest Florida finished third in the conference in each of his first two seasons before winning the conference title in the third year. During that season, the Raiders were ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation and were runner-up in the State of Florida/Region VIII tournament.  

Fletcher coached 40 Raiders who moved on to four-year colleges, with 15 signing professional contracts. In 16 years of coaching, Fletcher has coached 35 players who moved on to play professional baseball with eight advancing to Major League Baseball.

Before Northwest Florida, Fletcher was an assistant coach at Chipola College. The Indians won the 2007 national championship, the 2007 and 2008 State of Florida/Region VIII championship and the 2006 and 2007 Panhandle Conference championship. The 2007 National Championship was the first baseball national championship at Chipola College and the first of a Panhandle Conference baseball team.

Before Chipola, he was the head assistant coach and pitching coach at Division II Harding University in 2005. Fletcher began his coaching career at Faulkner University as a graduate assistant in 2003 and assistant varsity and head junior varsity coach in 2004.

Fletcher played at Faulkner University from 1999-2002. He was a Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference All-Freshman selection in 1999, a member of the GACC championship team in 2000 and the National Christian College Athletic Association national championship team in 2001. He was also a NCCAA All-Region selection and a NCCAA World Series All-Tournament selection.

He is the son of Tom and Jane Fletcher of Montgomery, Ala. Tom is a member of the Faulkner University Athletic Hall of Fame.
