Huntingdon's Brown and LaGrange's Brooks Nab GSAC Pitcher and Player of the Week
DECATUR,Ga.- Breaking the streak held by Piedmont, Tyler Brooks claims this week's baseball Pitcher of the Week while Grant Brown earned the Player of the Week honors as announced by the Great South Athletic Conference. This is the first award this season for Brooks and the second for Brown who won it for the week of Feb 27.
Getting two wins last week.Brooks pitched 9-1/3 innings, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out six. Opponents batted .206 against him. Playing the role of starter and reliever, he started and got win against Centre, pitched three scoreless innings in relief to get win versus Maryville.
In a game against Millsap and two versus Emory, Brown was on fire, batting .700 (7-for-10) with two RBI, three runs and four stolen bases and had a .900 slugging percentage in three games last week for the Hawks. Brown is currently first in the GSAC with hits (41), second in runs scored (25) and is 16-for-17 in stolen bases.
The Lions hit the diamond again tonight in Sewanee, Tenn. for a match-up against the University of the South. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. The Hawks head to Berry College for a three game set March 30-31.
