Lowman and Miers Named Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week

DECATUR, Ga.- Gearing up for the home stretch of the 2012 baseball season, the Great South Athletic Conference names Grant Lowman of Huntingdon and Ethan Miers of Piedmont Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. This is the first time either player has received the award this season.

Sitting in third in the conference with a 2.25 ERA, Lowman was 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA last week, picking up a 3-1 win over Berry on Saturday. Lowman struck out five, walked two, allowed four hits and one earned run in seven innings.

Earning his first Player of the Week award, Miers had a huge week, going 8-19 (.421) at the plate, with 8 RBI, 6 R, a triple, 2 BB and a SB. The senior had 4 straight games with 2 RBI on his 5-game hitting streak. He is currently fifth in batting average for the Lions and has 31 hits through 28 games this season.
