Odom’s four RBIs lead Hawks against Oglethorpe

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon bats came alive in Saturday's win over Oglethorpe.

The Hawks' baseball team pounded out 11 hits and scored a season-best 12 runs in a 12-4 win over the Stormy Petrels. Since being shutout in the season opener, Huntingdon (3-2) has scored 34 runs in the last four games.

Catcher Joseph Odom led the Hawks with four RBIs and a run scored on a 3-for-5 day. Cameron Sweat and Evan Agnew each had two hits and scored twice. Grant Brown, Caleb Astin and Tyler Blackwell also scored twice.

Huntingdon set the tone with five runs in the first two innings. A Keegan Lambeth sacrifice fly scored Astin, a Jordan Freeman single scored Odom and Sweat scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-1 after one inning.

The Hawks pushed two more runs across in the second inning as Blackwell scored on an error and Brown scored on a wild pitch.

Odom picked up his first RBI in the fourth inning with a single to score Agnew. A sacrifice fly by Blackwell scored Freeman in the fifth inning to make it 7-2.

The Hawks closed out their scoring in the seventh inning. Sweat scored on a fielder's choice by Brown and Agnew came home on an error. Odom drove in Astin, Brown and Blackwell for the final three runs on a two-out, bases-loaded double.

Cory Belyeu (1-0) picked up the win. Belyeu, Chris Barrentine and Joseph Fincher combined for seven hits, eight strikeouts and six walks.

Huntingdon closes out its series with Oglethorpe (0-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
