Huntingdon drops Game 3, but takes weekend baseball series from Emory

ATLANTA – The Huntingdon baseball team rallied late, but Emory held on for an 8-7 win on Sunday. The Hawks won the first two games of the series 5-1 and 14-7.

Joseph Odom led the Hawks with two home runs, three RBIs and two runs on a 3-for-5 day. Odom hit a solo home run in the fourth inning and a two-run homer in the ninth. Through 13 games, Odom leads the Hawks with six home runs and 25 RBIs.

Grant Brown, Tyler Blackwell and Seth Currie each added two hits for the Hawks.

Huntingdon (8-5) led 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning but gave up six runs in the bottom of the sixth as Emory (6-4) took an 8-3 lead. The score stood until the top of the ninth.

Huntingdon scored four runs in the ninth, but couldn't complete the comeback. A Tyler Tierney double scored Currie and Odom's two-run homer made it an 8-6 game. An Austin White single scored Keegan Lambeth but a ground out to first ended the game.

The Hawks first three runs came in the fourth and sixth inning. In addition to Odom's first home run, Evan Agnew singled to score Blackwell in the fourth. Blackwell singled in the sixth to score Trey Smith.
