Huntingdon baseball wins Game 3 for sweep of Piedmont

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team rallied from an early deficit and knocked off Piedmont 6-4 on Sunday for a weekend sweep at Posey Field. The Hawks (27-9) beat Piedmont 5-3 and 6-2 on Saturday.

Sunday was also Senior Day as the Hawks recognized their 15 seniors. Fittingly, senior players accounted for five of Huntingdon's six RBIs and scored five of the six runs.

Senior pitcher Craig Brown (6-1) picked up the win, striking out six, walking two, allowing eight hits and giving up three runs in six innings. Brown gave up four hits and all three runs in the first inning but frustrated the Lions during his final five innings.

Senior Parker Adams faced six batters in two innings of relief before junior Neil Lawler took the mound in the ninth inning to earn his eighth save of the season and his third save of the week.

Seniors Evan Agnew and Seth Currie were both 2-for-3. Currie scored twice and drove in one run and Agnew hit a solo home run, his third homer of the season, in the third inning. Senior Caleb Astin drove in two runs, senior Grant Brown scored twice and senior Keegan Lambeth drove in one run. Junior Joseph Odom drove in the Hawks' other run and sophomore Jordan Freeman scored one run.

Trailing 3-0 in the third inning, Agnew's solo home run and a two-run double by Astin tied the game. Huntingdon took the lead in the fifth inning on a RBI single by Currie and added insurance runs with a RBI from Odom and a RBI triple from Currie.

Huntingdon closes out its home schedule on Wednesday against Point University at 6 p.m.
