Huntingdon baseball closes out home schedule with loss to Emory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon scored seven runs in the final four innings but lost to Emory 13-7 on Saturday at Posey Field.

This was the second game of a three-game series with Emory and the final home game of the season for the Hawks. Huntingdon (21-16) will play at Emory (28-10) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Saturday was also Senior Day for the Hawks, who recognized 13 seniors. The class was part of Huntingdon's first NCAA Division III South Regional appearance last season and finished third in the USA South Athletic Conference this season. The four-year players were part of a conference championship team in 2012 and a conference runner-up team in 2011.

Senior first baseman Jarrett Hall, senior center fielder Trammell DeJarnett and junior third baseman Jordan Freeman combined for all seven of Huntingdon's RBIs and seven of the Hawks' 14 hits against Emory.

Hall was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two run double for Huntingdon's first runs of the game. DeJarnett was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs and Freeman was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs.

Sophomore left fielder Patrick Kucera was 2-for-4 with a run and freshman catcher Austin Clanton was 2-for-2. Sophomore Jordan Criswell and freshman Josh Hines each scored one run.

Senior Joseph Fincher (5-4) took the loss in 3 1/3 innings. Seniors Nathan Edwards, Tate Fowler, Mitchell Luckie, Neil Lawler and Philip Neal pitched the final 5 2/3 innings.
