Hawks fall to Randolph-Macon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, falling to Randolph-Macon 9-3 in the Firehouse Classic at Posey Field.

The Hawks (1-1) gave up five runs in the first three innings as Randolph-Macon (3-0) set the tone early.

Three players combined for seven of the Hawks' nine hits. Designated hitter Cody Shoemaker was 3-for-3 with a RBI, center fielder Patrick Kucera was 2-for-5 with a RBI and a run and second baseman Mason Throneberry was 2-for-4 with a run.

Shortstop Landon Sessions drove in the Hawks' first run of the game and third baseman Jay Jordan scored Huntingdon's final run.

Zack Watson took the loss for Huntingdon.

The Hawks close out the Firehouse Classic on Sunday against Millsaps at 1 p.m.
