Huntingdon falters late against Adrian

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team started strong but struggled late in a 13-7 loss to Adrian College on Wednesday.

Huntingdon built a 5-0 lead in the first four innings before the Bulldogs rallied with three runs in the fifth inning, four runs in the seventh and six runs in the ninth.

Taylor Fought and Garrett Breland each drove in two runs for Huntingdon. Fought was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs and Breland was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Will Cosby was 2-for-2 with two runs, Jud Owens was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Joseph Calvert was 2-for-5.

Coleson Taylor drove in one run and Garrett Headley, Chris Fisher and Bradley Harris each scored one run.

Reliever Jeremy Peterson (1-1) took the loss as the Hawks sent eight pitchers to the mound. Starter Jared McFall and reliever Brooks Freeman had the strongest outings, combining for seven strikeouts, one walk, two hits and no runs in four innings. McFall pitched three scoreless innings, striking out four, walking one and allowing two hits. Freeman pitched one inning and struck out all three batters faced.

Coming Up: Huntingdon opens conference play this weekend at Posey Field with a three-game series against LaGrange. Game 1 of the series is set for 6 p.m. on Friday.
