Huntingdon’s Powell named All-Region

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – Huntingdon junior Wes Powell was recognized with the release of the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-South Region teams. 

Powell was named second-team All-South Region as a shortstop. A three-time All-Conference selection, this is Powell's first All-Region recognition. He is the ninth Hawk to be named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team since 2012.

A native of Cantonment, Fla., Powell led Huntingdon with a .382 batting average, 66 hits and 43 runs this season. He tied for the team lead with two triples, was second with a .480 slugging percentage and was third on the team with 25 RBIs, 10 doubles and 10 stolen bases. His 66 hits were second in the USA South Athletic Conference.

In 40 games this season, Powell recorded a hit in 35 games and had 27 games with multiple hits. He put together a 20-game hitting streak and an 11-game hitting streak during the season.
