Huntingdon football ranked in final AFCA and D3football.com polls

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon football team earned a spot in the final rankings of two national polls with the release of the American Football Coaches Association poll and the D3football.com poll.

Huntingdon is No. 24 in the final AFCA poll and No. 25 in the final D3football.com poll. This is the first time the Hawks have been ranked in both polls at the same time.

The 2015 Huntingdon team put together the most successful season in the 13-year history of the program. The Hawks won their first conference title, set the school record for wins in a season with a 10-2 record and advanced to the NCAA playoffs for just the second time.

The Hawks' 38-27 win over Hendrix College in the first round marked the first playoff win in program history. Huntingdon won nine straight games, tying the program's longest winning streak, before falling to 10th-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor in the second round of the playoffs.

This is just the third time Huntingdon has been ranked in the AFCA poll and the first time since the 2013 season. The Hawks first cracked the AFCA poll at No. 23 in 2013 and reached No. 22 with a 3-0 start before a loss to then-12th ranked Wesley College knocked the Hawks from the national rankings.

This is the first time Huntingdon has been ranked by D3football.com since the 2012 season. The Hawks earned their first D3football.com national ranking following a 3-1 start in 2012. The Hawks entered the poll at No. 24 and climbed as high as 16th during a seven-week stretch in the polls.
