Hawks name football team captains

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – Huntingdon head coach Mike Turk officially announced the football team captains on Monday.

Four seniors were selected by a vote of their teammates. The 2018 captains are offensive linemen Chris Hering and Adam Mann, linebacker Trey Hayes and defensive back Charlie Jones.

"I don't think there is anything in sports that compares to being named a team captain by your teammates. It says a lot about your character and a lot about who you are as a man, not just as a player," Turk said. "The guys who were picked are certainly some of our better players, without question. They're also guys who are leaders and who do things the right way.

"There is a lot of responsibility that comes with being a team captain. It is a responsibility that can't be taken lightly and has to be taken seriously. I think each of these guys understand that and will represent us well."

Huntingdon opens the season on Sept. 1 at Guilford College. Kickoff is set for noon (Central).
