MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon College athletic department officially released its 2019 football schedule on Friday.
The Hawks will open the season with three non-conference teams in September before facing seven conference rivals in October and November.
"This is probably one of the most challenging schedules that we have had," Huntingdon head football coach Mike Turk said. "Our offseason work has been focused on being as ready as we can be for the start of the 2019 season, and there is plenty to motivate us when you look at who we are going to be facing. Opening weekend will be here before you know it, so we do not have a day to waste as we prepare."
Huntingdon will be on the road for two of its first three games before playing four of its seven conference games at home.
The season will begin with a familiar foe when Guilford College comes to town on Sept. 7. This will be the third straight season the teams have met to open the season. In Week 2, Huntingdon travels to Birmingham-Southern for the battle for the Wesley Cup on Sept. 14.
The Hawks will close non-conference play at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Sept. 21. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2009. The Titans are coming off of a 6-4 season after reaching the NCAA Division III semifinals in 2017 and finishing as the national runner-up in 2016.
After a bye week, the Hawks open conference play with back-to-back home games, hosting Methodist on Oct. 5 and Maryville on Oct. 12. Huntingdon travels to Brevard on Oct. 19 before closing out October at home against Averett on Oct. 26.
Huntingdon will play at Greensboro on Nov. 2 before returning to Samford Stadium to play North Carolina Wesleyan on Nov. 9 in the final home game of the regular season. The Hawks will close the regular season at LaGrange on Nov. 16.
