Huntingdon loses at Wisconsin-Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wisc.  – The Huntingdon football team closed the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 44-14 loss at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday.

Huntingdon only trailed 2-0 with 11 minutes left in the first half before the Titans pulled away with four touchdowns in a span of a little more than 10 minutes.

Huntingdon scored two touchdowns in the second half. Michael Lambert connected with Otis Porter for a 12-yard touchdown strike with 8:09 left in the third quarter and Eric Thomas scored on a 25-yard run with 14:08 left in the fourth quarter.

The Turning Point: Leading 2-0 early in the second quarter, the Titans used four consecutive scoring possessions to take control. Wisconsin-Oshkosh scored on a 12-play drive, a one-play drive, a six-play drive and a three-play drive to carry a 30-0 lead into halftime.

 

Notable Performance: Running back Eric Thomas accounted for 171 of Huntingdon's 296 yards of offense on Saturday, turning in his second 100-yard rushing performance in three games this season. The junior rushed for a season-high 171 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.

This was Thomas' seventh career 100-yard rushing game, the third most in program history.

New TD leader: Otis Porter's 12-yard touchdown reception set a new career record for the Hawks. With 26 career touchdown receptions, Porter passed former record holder Cody Pearcy on Saturday. Porter ranks fifth in Huntingdon history with 113 receptions and fourth with 2,334 receiving yards.

Head Coach Mike Turk on Saturday's loss: "This was a tough one today. They blew open a competitive game late in the second quarter. I was proud of the way we responded in the second half, but we have to be more consistent across the board."
