Huntingdon men’s basketball falls in Rhodes Christmas Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team built an early lead on Saturday but Rhodes College stormed back to win the first game of the Rhodes Christmas Invitational. The Lynx rallied from an eight-point deficit in the first half and pulled away in the second half for an 84-59 victory.

Huntingdon led for much of the first half, but Rhodes took a 38-33 lead into halftime. The Hawks (0-7) opened the second half with a Ryan Petty 3-pointer to make it a two-point game. But Rhodes (6-2) responded with a 25-7 run to take control.

Jeremiah Thomas led Huntingdon with 17 points and six rebounds. Kanden Blackmon added 12 points and Petty finished with 11 points and four assists. Jason Varney dished out a team-high five assists.

Tripp Diamond led Rhodes with 13 points and Andrew Galow added 12 points. John Dunavant and Kory Kilpatrick each scored 11 points.

Huntingdon returns to action in the Rhodes Christmas Invitational on Sunday against Berry. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
