Huntingdon men’s basketball downs Piedmont on Senior Day

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team put Piedmont away early on Sunday in the final home game of the season.

The win is the seventh in the past nine games for the Hawks.

Huntingdon built a 22-point lead late in the first half and maintained at least a 14-point lead throughout the second half. The Hawks used a 31-9 run midway through the first half to break the game open.

Austin Hill led Huntingdon with 21 points and seven rebounds. Byron Dudley added 13 points and four steals, Jerome Davis followed with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists and Jason Varney finished with 10 points.

With three USA South Athletic Conference games remaining, Huntingdon (8-13, 7-4 USA South) remains fourth in the conference standings. Maryville (16-7, 11-1) lost to LaGrange on Sunday but remains in first. LaGrange (14-9, 8-4) and Averett (11-12, 8-4) are tied for second.

The Hawks travel to Covenant on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
