MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team couldn't find an answer for NAIA Brescia University in an 89-76 loss on Tuesday.
The Bearcats (8-5) shot a little better than 50-percent from the field and scored 42 points in the paint. With Huntingdon trailing by just five points, 72-67, in the final eight minutes, Brescia put the game away with a 17-2 run.
"Our effort was good today," Huntingdon head coach Mike Pugh said. "Brescia has a good team and they were bigger and stronger than us. With a 6-foot-7 forward, we couldn't handle their post play.
"But we're playing with a lot of effort and we're getting better each day. We're going to keep working and get ready to open conference play this weekend."
Dantavius Washington led the Hawks with 20 points and Jerome Davis followed with 13 points and four assists. Alex Layson added 11 points and four assists and Raheem Berry finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Hawks (1-8) host Greensboro on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Methodist on Sunday at noon.
