MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team fell to Maryville College 74-66 on Friday night.

Huntingdon (8-14, 1-10 USA South) started strong and led throughout the first half but never led by more than eight in the first.

The Hawks entered halftime leading 34-30 and held the lead for most of the second half. Huntingdon built a nine point lead with 12:01 left in the game, but slowly saw it disappear.

The Scots (13-9, 4-7 USA South) took their first lead of the game with 6:44 left. The Hawks pulled within five with 51 seconds left off a pair of Andre Ashley free throws but were unable to close the gap as time dwindled down.

Huntingdon outrebounded the Scots 40-35, but only made six trips to the free-throw line. The Hawks were 4-fo-6 from the line as Maryville went 16-for-24.

Ashley recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He added four assists.
