Huntingdon men’s golf wraps up Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Steven Smith shot Huntingdon's low round on Sunday and Jamey Lester led the Hawks in the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.

Smith shot an even-par 72 in the final round at Jekyll Island Country Club and Lester finished the three-round tournament with at 7-over-par 223. Sam Strachan shot a 2-over 74 in the final round and finished with a 233. Smith and Griffin Just both finished the 54-hole tournament at 237. Rodes Bowers shot 242.

As a team, Huntingdon shot 304 on Sunday and shot 916 for the tournament to finish in 19th.

Methodist won the team title and the individual title. As a team, Methodist shot 858. Oglethorpe was second at 870.

Methodist's Mike Wesko was the individual champion with a 7-under 209. Wesko shot a 4-under 68 on Sunday. Methodist's Robby Bruns, who led the first two rounds, finished in sixth with a 213.

The Hawks play in the UNA Spring Classic on March 26.
