Huntingdon men's golf completes first two rounds of Gordin Classic
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 609 in the first two rounds of the Gordin Classic at the Columbus Country Club on Monday.
The Hawks shot 306 in the first round and 303 in the second round and are in 11th place entering the third and final round on Tuesday.
Freshman David James turned in the Hawks' best round of the day, shooting an even-par 72 in Round 1, and Huntingdon's best 36-hole total with a 4-over 148. James is tied for 17th entering the final round.
Wittenberg's Alex Andrews and Illinois Wesleyan's Stefan Johnson lead the tournament at 4-under 140. Wittenberg leads the team standings at 578. Oglethorpe is second at 580 and Methodist University is third at 583.
Behind James, juniors Jamey Lester and Tyler Schmutz and sophomore Steven Smith each shot 155 for the Hawks and are tied for 41st. Junior Rodes Bowers shot 157 and is tied for 51st.
