Huntingdon men’s golf tied for 6th in Callaway Gardens Invitational
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. –The Huntingdon men's golf team opened the spring season with a solid showing in the first round of the Callaway Gardens Invitational.
Huntingdon shot 311 on the Mountain View Course at Callaway Gardens and is tied for sixth entering Sunday's final round. Oglethorpe leads the team standings at 292, LaGrange is second at 302 and Rhodes College is third at 309. Linfield College and Greensboro are tied for fourth at 310 and the Hawks are tied with Berry College for sixth at 311.
Junior Griffin Just led the Hawks with a 2-over-par 74 and is tied for seventh. Oglethorpe's Anthony Maccaglia leads the field with a 4-under 68.
Behind Just, junior Rodes Bowers and sophomore Steven Smith each shot 78, junior Jamey Lester shot 81 and junior Tyler Schmutz shot 83. Freshman David James, who is playing in the tournament as an individual, is tied for 17th with a 4-over 76.
