Huntingdon men’s golf tied for 13th entering Rd. 3 of Jekyll Island Inv.

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. –The Huntingdon men's golf team moved up six spots after the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.

Tied for 19th after shooting 312 in the first round, the Hawks shot 304 in the second round and are tied for 13th entering Sunday's third round at Pine Lakes Golf Course.

Illinois Wesleyan turned in the best round on Saturday with a score of 292 and is in first with a two-round total of 587. Methodist is second at 593 and first-round leader Oglethorpe is third at 594.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Brad Shigezawa is 1-under-par after 36 holes and leads the individual standings at 143.

Huntingdon's Griffin Just is nine strokes off the lead at 152. Just led the Hawks on Saturday with a 2-over 74. Tyler Schmutz shot 76 in the second round and is at 154 for the tournament. Jamey Lester and Rodes Bowers both shot 77 in the second round and Steven Smith shot 83. Lester is at 154 after two rounds, Bowers is at 156 and Smith is at 166.
