Huntingdon men shoot 296 in 2nd round of Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational

DESTIN, Fla. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shaved 10 strokes off its first-round total and moved up two spots in the second round of the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational.

The Hawks followed up their first-round score of 306 with a 296 on Monday and are in 16th at 602 entering Tuesday's final round at the Raven Golf Club.

Freshman Will Thrash led Huntingdon with an even-par 71 in the second round. After two rounds, Thrash is 10 strokes out of first at 147. Senior Rodes Bowers shot a 1-over 72 in the second round and is three strokes behind Thrash at 150. Junior Tyler McLelland has a two-round score of 151, followed by junior Steven Smith at 154 and senior Jamey Lester at 159.

LaGrange's Cory Howard shot a 5-under 66 on Tuesday and leads the tournament at 5-under 137.

Oglethorpe leads the team standings at 563, LaGrange is second at 573 and Rhodes College is third at 582.
