Huntingdon men’s golf finishes 9th in Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's golf team closed out the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate with a 314 on Sunday and finished ninth with a two-round score of 626.

Oglethorpe won the 16-team tournament with a 587 and Methodist was second at 592. Oglethorpe's David Kleckner was the medalist with a 3-under-par 141 for the tournament.

"This was another tough day as we didn't play much better than yesterday," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "One bright spot today was freshman Will Thrash. He was 4-under for most of the day and finished the day at 1-under.

"I saw a number of good shots the past two days, but we just couldn't capitalize on them. We're going to regroup and get ready for Jekyll Island."

Thrash, playing as an individual, shot 71 on Sunday and finished the tournament tied for 21st at 153. Senior Jamey Lester shot 79 on Sunday and tied for 16th at 152.

Senior Rodes Bowers finished the tournament at 154, junior Steven Smith and senior Griffin Just both shot 160 and sophomore David James shot 164.

Also playing as individuals, sophomore Justin Nolen shot a two-round total of 170 and freshman Taylor Buckholtz shot 181.

Huntingdon returns to action on March 14 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
