Men’s golf shoots 303 in Rd. 1 of Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational

DESTIN, Fla. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 303 on Sunday and is tied for 14th entering Monday's second round of the Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational.

LaGrange is in first at 286 and the University of Texas-Tyler is second at 287. LaGrange's Cory Howard shot the best round of the day with a 3-under-par 68.

Sophomore Will Thrash led Huntingdon with a 2-over 73, junior David James shot a 3-over 74, freshman Mac Harris shot a 4-over 75 and freshmen Peter Scrimgeour and Alan Anderson each shot 81.

"We let a good round slip through our fingers today," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "Will struggled all day but I was proud of the fight he put up. David was 2-under with three holes to play and let it slip away, but he is really close to carding a good score. The freshmen struggled today. Mac played solid for most of the day, but like Peter and Alan, just couldn't stay away from the big numbers. I am looking for a good bounce back round tomorrow."
