Hawks finish seventh in Rhodes College Fall Classic

TUNICA, Miss. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 304 in the final round of the Rhodes College Fall Classic on Monday. The Hawks finished the two-round tournament tied for seventh with a 602.

"It was a tough day for the boys. We started out flat and just could not turn it around," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "We were in the final pairing again this week and we are getting more comfortable being in that position. I'm proud of the boys. We fought hard today, we just didn't have it. That's golf."

Berry College won the 17-team tournament with a 581 and Southwestern University was second at 592. Berry's Ryan Elmore was the tournament medalist with a 1-under-par 143.

Huntingdon junior Addison Lambeth finished four strokes off the lead and tied for eighth with a 3-over 147. Lambeth shot an even-par 72 on Sunday and a 3-over 75 in the final round. Sophomore Chase Feagin finished tied for 16th with a 5-over 149. Feagin shot a 1-over 73 in Round 1 and a 4-over 76 in Round 2.

Huntingdon junior Will Thrash finished with a 152, freshman Stephen Shephard shot 154 and senior David James shot 159. Playing as an individual, sophomore Jon Colten Stanaland shot a 6-over 150. After shooting 77 on Sunday, Stanaland shot a 1-over 73 on Monday.

Huntingdon returns to action on Oct. 5 in the Royal Lakes Invitational.
