Hawks remain in 2nd after Rd. 2 of USA South Tournament

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 307 on Saturday in the second round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.

With one round to play at the Benvenue Country Club on Sunday, the Hawks are in second with a 36-over-par 612. Defending national champion Methodist leads the tournament at 13-over 589. Piedmont is third at 45-over 621.

"This was another tough day for us," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "We have come out flat both days. We need something good to happen early on Sunday."

Huntingdon junior Will Thrash enters the final round in third place. Thrash shot a 6-over 78 on Saturday and has a 4-over 148 through two rounds. Methodist's Larkin Gross leads the tournament with a 1-under 143 and Methodist's Jackson Collier is second with a 1-over 145.

Junior Addison Lambeth and freshman Stephen Shephard each shot 3-over 75 to lead the Hawks on Saturday. Entering the final round, Lambeth is tied for ninth at 153 and Shephard is tied for 11th at 155.

Senior David James is tied for 14th at 157 and junior Chad Ring is tied for 19th at 158. James and Ring each shot 79 in the second round.
