Huntingdon B-Team opens season in Rhodes Fall Classic

TUNICA, Miss. – The Huntingdon men's golf B-Team opened the fall season in the Rhodes College Fall Classic on Sunday.

Competing against five nationally ranked teams, the B-Team shot 310 in the opening round at Tunica National. Entering Monday's final round, the Hawks are 13th in the field of 18 teams.

Sewanee and 16th-ranked University of Texas Tyler each shot 290 and are tied for first. Seventh-ranked Rhodes College shot 293 and is third. Texas-Tyler's Brandon Rougeau turned in Sunday's best round with a 5-under-par 67.

"This was a day full of nerves for the young players on the B-Team," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "But we gained some valuable experience that will be beneficial as we go forward."

Sophomore Mark Connelly led Huntingdon with a 3-over-par 75 and sophomore Stephen Shephard shot a 4-over 76. Freshman Alex Rogers shot 79, freshman Drew Mathers shot 80 and junior Chase Feagin shot 83. Playing as an individual, sophomore Sterling Dixon shot 90.
