Top-ranked Hawks tied for 2nd after Rd. 2 of Golfweek Invitational

DESTIN, Fla. – The top-ranked Huntingdon men's golf team shot 10-over-par 294 in the second round of the Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational on Monday.

In a 19-team field, that includes 14 nationally ranked teams, the Hawks are tied for second with a 13-over-par 581.

Entering Tuesday's final round at the Raven Golf Course, 10th-ranked University of Texas-Tyler leads the field with a 5-under-par 563. Fifth-ranked Methodist is tied for second with Huntingdon.

"Today was a tough day. Very few putts fell for us," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "We had a couple of big numbers late in the round and couldn't recover. We know what we have to do in the final round."

Behind Huntingdon and Methodist, seventh-ranked Rhodes, 13th-ranked Concordia-Texas and 17th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan are tied for fourth at 16-over 584.

Senior Will Thrash led Huntingdon with a 1-under 70 in the second round and is tied for eighth with an even-par 142. Texas-Tyler's D.J. Godoy leads the field with an 8-under 134.

Senior Addison Lambeth shot a 1-over 72 on Monday and is one stroke behind Thrash and tied for 12th with a 1-over 143. Senior Chad Ring shot 78 in Round 2 and is tied for 23rd at 5-over 147.

Sophomores Mark Connelly and Stephen Shephard each shot 5-over 76 in the second round and are tied for 43rd at 9-over 151.
