Top-ranked Huntingdon ties for 4th in Callaway Gardens Invitational

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 305 in the final round of the Callaway Gardens Invitational on Tuesday and tied for fourth with a two-round total of 601.

The top-ranked Hawks finished five strokes out of first. Thirteenth-ranked Emory won the 18-team tournament with a two-round score of 596. Eleventh-ranked LaGrange was second with a 597, 10th-ranked Oglethorpe was third with a 600 and 24th-ranked Sewanee tied Huntingdon's 601 for fourth.

Christopher Newport's David Rabil and Washington and Lee's Brian Peccie tied for medalist honors at 1-over-par 145.

Huntingdon senior Addison Lambeth and sophomore Stephen Shephard each finished five strokes out of first and tied for 16th at 6-over 150. Shephard led the Hawks in the final round with a 1-over 73 and Lambeth shot a 5-over 77.

Seniors Will Thrash and Chad Ring each finished six strokes out of first and tied for 21st at 7-over 151. Thrash shot 5-over 77 on Tuesday and Ring shot 7-over 79 in the final round.

Freshman Alex Aulerich shot a 6-over 78 in the final round and finished with a two-round 160. Playing as an individual, sophomore Mark Connelly shot a 4-over 76 in the final round and finished the tournament with a two-round 157.

The Hawks return to action on March 17 in the Jekyll Island Invitational.
