No. 1 Hawks, Lambeth tie for second in Jekyll Island Collegiate

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 290 on Sunday to tie for second while senior Addison Lambeth shot a three-round total of 213 to tie for second in the final round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.

No. 1 Huntingdon shot a three-round total of 879 and finished four strokes off the lead. The Hawks tied for second with Oglethorpe and Methodist.  

USA South Athletic Conference opponent Greensboro College took the win with a three-round total of 875 in the field of 29.

Lambeth, who ranks third in Golfstat's Division III player ranking, shot an even-par 72 on Sunday and tied with Greensboro's Grant Powell. Oglethorpe's Jacob Arnett shot a 1-under 71 in the final round to take top honors.

Huntingdon sophomore Stephen Shephard finished with a three-round total of 221 to tie for 18th. Shephard shot a 2-over 74 in the final round.

"It was a good comeback today," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "The boys handled the high winds and found themselves toed for the lead with one hole to play. Unfortunately, we didn't get the win but it was fun to be in the mix."

Senior Chad Ring and freshman Drew Mathers tied for 35th a three-total of 224. Each shot an even-par to close out the tournament.

Senior Will Thrash closed out Huntingdon's top five with a three-round total of 231. Thrash shot a 5-over 77 on Sunday.

Huntingdon returns to the course on March 27 as the Hawks host the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery.
