Hawks in 3rd after Rd. 1 of USA South Tournament

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot a 4-over-par 292 on Thursday in the opening round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Hawks are in third entering the second round of the tournament on Friday. Greensboro leads the nine-team field with a 2-under 286 and Methodist is second with a 1-under 287.

LaGrange is one stroke behind Huntingdon and in fourth with a 5-over 293 and North Carolina Wesleyan is fifth at 6-over 294.

North Carolina Wesleyan's Mariano Silvestri turned in Thursday's low round with a 5-under 67.

Sophomore Stephen Shephard led the Hawks with a 2-under 70 and is tied for third. Senior Addison Lambeth shot an even-par 72 and is tied for ninth, senior Will Thrash shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 18th, sophomore Mark Connelly shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for 21st and senior Chad Ring shot a 6-over 78 and is tied for 31st.
