Huntingdon B-Team wins SAA Preview

DICKSON, Tenn. – The Huntingdon B-Team won the SAA Men's Golf Preview with a 6-under-par 570 on Sunday at the Greystone Golf Club.

Playing in a 14-team field that included three nationally ranked teams, the B-Team Hawks shot a 4-under 284 in the first round and a 2-under 286 in the second round. Both rounds were played on Sunday.

Berry College and 17th-ranked Oglethorpe tied for second at 1-under 575. Centre College was fourth at 7-over 583, 15th-ranked Rhodes College was fifth at 11-over 587 and 18th-ranked Sewanee was sixth at 17-over 593. The Huntingdon C-Team finished 13th with a two-round 612.

Oglethorpe's Jacob Arnett was the tournament medalist with an 8-under 136.

Freshman Walker Winslette led the B-Team Hawks with a 3-under 141 and tied for fifth. Winslette shot a 4-under 68 in the first round and a 1-over 73 in the second round.

Two shots behind Winslette, sophomore Ben Harris and freshman Carson Whitton tied for 10th at 1-under 143. Harris shot a 2-under 70 in Round 1 and a 1-over 73 in Round 2. Whitton shot an even-par 72 in the opening round and a 1-under 71 in the final round.

Senior Wyatt Adkison turned in a 2-over 74 and an even-par 72 to finish tied for 15th with a 2-over 146. Freshman Walker Hinds shot a 2-under 70 in the final round and tied for 22nd with a 4-over 148. Senior Joaquin Trigueros finished the tournament with a 10-over 154.

Junior Alex Aulerich led the C-Team Hawks and tied for 22nd with a 4-over 148. Aulerich shot 2-over 74 in each round. Freshman Cam Page shot a 2-over 74 in the second round and finished with an 8-over 152, freshman Cody Argade shot 1-over 73 in the final round to finish with a 9-over 153 and sophomore Thomas Gerard finished with a 15-over 159.

 

Coming Up: The Huntingdon varsity will open the fall season in the NCAA Tournament Fall Preview in Lexington, Ky., on Sept. 17-18.
