Whitton named USA South Rookie of the Week
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon freshman Carson Whitton was recognized with the release of the USA South Golfers of the Week on Wednesday.
Whitton was named the Rookie of the Week for his performance in the Gordin Classic on Monday and Tuesday. Competing in a field that included 11 nationally ranked teams, the Newnan, Ga., native finished seven strokes out of first and tied for 12th with an even-par 216 in the three-round tournament.
Whitton shot a 1-under-par 71 in each of the first two rounds and closed the tournament with a 2-over 74.
In eight rounds this fall, Whitton has shot a 1-under 71 three times, an even-par 72 three times and a 2-over 74 twice.
