Mathers named to All-Nicklaus Team

NORMAN, Okla. – Huntingdon junior Drew Mathers was announced as a member of the 2019 All-Nicklaus Team this week.

The team is comprised of golfers from Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA. Mathers was one of three Division III golfers to earn the recognition. The Mobile, Ala., native was a finalist for the Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award this season.

The second-ranked golfer in Division III and the USA South Athletic Conference Golfer of the Year, Mathers set Huntingdon's NCAA-era records for scoring average (71.18 in 28 rounds), wins (three) and rounds of par or better (20) this past season. His nine rounds in the 60s were the second most by a Hawk during the NCAA era.

Mathers won the USA South Conference Tournament with a tournament-record 11-under-par 205 and set the Hawks' NCAA-era record for 72 holes with an even-par 288 to place third in the Division III national tournament.

In his final six events of the season, he placed first three times, second twice and third once.
