Huntingdon stumbles at Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team gave up four goals in the second half and lost to Hendrix College 6-3 on Saturday.

The Hawks (1-3) fell behind 2-0 early but scored twice to tie the game at halftime. Hendrix (3-1) pulled ahead in the third quarter with three goals, including two man-up goals in a span of 75 seconds.

LaDarius Williams and Brandon Sewell each scored one goal in the first half for the Hawks and Brandon Scheele scored Huntingdon's final goal in the fourth quarter. Sewell also had seven ground balls and was 9-of-12 on faceoffs. Kendrick Ballard had five ground balls.

Defenders Josh Clayton and Glen Troxell both finished with three caused turnovers and Matt Bowes finished with two caused turnovers.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez started the game for Huntingdon and finished with three saves and two goals allowed in the first half. Kristian Smith played the second half in goal and allowed four goals and recorded four saves.

Huntingdon returns to action on Wednesday at Birmingham-Southern at 7 p.m.
