Men’s lacrosse wins big in home opener

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team picked up its second win of the season on Wednesday, defeating Oglethorpe 19-6.

The Hawks (2-0) started the game off fast, scoring five goals in the first period of their home opener.

Senior Jakob Works scored three of his six goals in the first period. Works finished with six goals, three assists and seven shots on goal.

Huntingdon entered halftime with a 6-1 lead before turning up the offense in the second half. The Hawks scored eight goals in the third quarter and five in the fourth.

Huntingdon featured 11 players who scored a goal in Wednesday's blowout.

Karson Hastings finished with two goals and two assists and Mac Puller scored one goal and had two assists.

Davis Dalton and Brandon Scheele each had two goals while Dalton finished with seven ground balls. Austen Saucier had one goal and one assist.

Mike George, Jackson Schrampfer, A.J. Harper, Caleb Dailey and William Monlezun each had one goal.

Sam Hitt went 18-for-23 on faceoffs and recorded 12 ground balls.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez recorded six saves and allowed two goals in just over 40 minutes of play.

Huntingdon travels to Dallas on Friday to play University of Dallas at 3 p.m.
