Huntingdon earns win No. 11, sets new program record for wins

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team rolled past Randolph College 15-9 on Wednesday night and set a new program record for wins in a season.

With their 11th win this season, the Hawks (11-2) broke the previous record of 10 wins set by the 2014 and 2017 teams.

Huntingdon controlled the first half of Wednesday's game and carried an 8-1 lead into halftime. Huntingdon made it 10-2 early in the second half before the Wildcats closed the gap and pulled within three goals with 7:38 to play in the game.

Leading 10-7, Huntingdon put the game away with three goals in a 21-second span. Austen Saucier scored with 6:30 left in the game, Adrian Harper scored with 6:20 to play and Miles Stading scored to make it 13-7 with 6:09 remaining.

Randolph scored two more goals in the final 4:02, but Huntingdon answered with a goal from Mac Puller and a goal from Seth Howe.

Stading and Harper each finished with three goals for the Hawks. Harper also had one assist and three ground balls. Bryce Coates scored two goals and had two assists and Jackson Schrampfer scored two goals.

Puller and Saucier each had one goal and one assist. Puller also had five ground balls. Sam Hitt, Kendrick Ballard and Howe each scored one goal and Zach Barnhill and Logan Wilson each had one assist.

Hitt was 21-for-26 on faceoffs and had a team-high 12 ground balls. Hitt, who entered Wednesday's game as the Division III leader for faceoff wins, has won 176 faceoffs this season.

Tyler Keiser caused three turnovers and Raymond Edwards caused two turnovers. Goalie Matt Murphy recorded seven saves in 16 shots on goal.
